3. PIWIK WEB ANALYTICS

SourceForge.net-hosted projects and developers host their content in a
variety of places, including our Project Web service, our Developer Web
service, and external web sites. It’s often unclear how many people you
are actually are actually reaching with your pages, and even more often
unclear where those users are in the world, what OS they are using, or how
long they are spending reading your pages. This is where web analytics
solutions come in to play.

SourceForge.net has launched the Matomo web analytics solution as part of
our growing Hosted Apps and Hosted Apps for Developers offerings, allowing
projects and developers to tag their web pages and obtain a comprehensive
set of analytics about their traffic. Matomo offers several ways to view
your analytics data, including dashboards, APIs and widgets that can be
embedded in your web pages — much more useful than a simple page counter.

For more information:

More information

We are in contact with Sourceforge and we will make sure Sourceforge always uses the latest best release of Matomo. This has the potential to become one of the largest sets of installs of Matomo in one place.

With Matomo APIs, open source codes, extended plugin architecture, providing Matomo to hundreds or thousands of small websites is just a few API calls away. Check out the Matomo API documentation, the Matomo Demo and of course, Matomo on Sourceforge!

Piwik.org is growing:
– 900 visits per day on average (from 300 three months ago),
– 100+ downloads per day

New servers for the website

The first servers we had were too slow to handle the load of the traffic generated by the website, the demo, and our build/development architecture. We were having downtimes due to crashes of the development server.

These problems are now fixed ! We upgraded our servers at the beginning of July. Everything is going smoothly since the migration. Please welcome victoria and henry!

New servers for tests and development

We are also very happy to receive help from Free a french ISP with more than 3 million customers. They are giving us a few servers to help us with the developments and performance tests. We created a new page Sponsors. If your company is interested by a sponsorship, please let us know.

These new servers will help us building a faster and scalable Matomo (Piwik). Stay tuned: we will soon post updates about the current development efforts!

What gives us, open source people, the energy to work? your support and love.

This is one of those times, normal people don?t/shouldn?t get so excited about web analytics tools. However, i?m not normal, so https://matomo.org/ has made me sit up and say ?oooh?.

[from webponce]

We are keeping track of the blog posts and articles about Matomo (Piwik) in a never ending list (nearly 200 articles now!). If you know a post that is not yet in the list (or if you’ve just written a new shiny one!) let us know. You can find some media resources on the Media page.

We hope that in the next few months, as well as making users happy, Matomo will make developers happy. The movement has already started with a few plugins being in development and a few already done (more info soon!).

Why are the developers so important? Every user expects something different from web analytics tools. Matomo has the power to give a unique experience by customization (via plugins). We believe that Matomo has a huge potential and we need the help from developers to build up this potential!

If you want to know more, visit the Developer Zone and read about the APIs or the plugin development. Feedback or contributions? Let us know

Then Matomo got featured on delicious Popular page, which brought not less than 750 direct visits and hundred of undirect visits (via feed readers, websites aggregators, etc.).

Thanks to all the people who wrote / spread the word about Matomo, it really helps us.The beta version is due before April 2008. Stay tuned!See also the related article : Welcome Japan!
